We Were Here Tomorrow Story, Setting and Norček Industries

On this page

The setup

On an expedition to save other Explorers, you and your partner are trapped beneath the ice of Antarctica. When you wake, the world is no longer the one you remember. Inside a Norček Industries facility, Director Kathleen Bowe tells you her team was close to a breakthrough before it vanished, and that a global crisis is coming. You are asked to finish their work.

What the Norček archive posts reveal

  • The leaked files describe a private research facility studying anomalous environments; many documents are signed “K.B.”.
  • Public-facing material mentions research facilities in Antarctica built to investigate “the anomaly discovered in the 1940s”, and witnesses who saw a rip in the sky.
  • The files call that rip “Rift 0” and catalogue plants and minerals recovered from it, including a mineral that can expand, contract and change shape: the researchers called it “goop”.
  • Norček studied the yellow and red suits of earlier Explorers, judged them inadequate, and designed new expedition suits.

Who wrote and voices it?

Creative director Martin Mittner told GameWatcher the story was written with sci-fi author Claire North, has a three-act structure and ends with a meaningful choice. He also said Sophie Okonedo voices the primary antagonist, without naming the character.

How does it connect to the other games?

The studio says the series’ stories are connected but standalone, and the leaked-files post says the documents feel familiar to the We Were Here universe. Specific links have not been revealed; see the series order.
