Do you need to play them in order?
No. Steam’s description for Tomorrow says every game in the series is a standalone online co-op adventure and that the stories are connected, but you do not need to play them in order. The Fan Edition page calls Tomorrow the sixth game in the franchise.
Where should a new duo start?
The first game, We Were Here, is free on Steam, which makes it the cheapest way to see whether the walkie-talkie format suits you both. Expeditions: The FriendShip is the studio’s bite-sized entry at $3.99.
Is there a chronological story order?
Total Mayhem Games has not published one. The developers told GameWatcher that Tomorrow deliberately leaves the icy castle setting of the earlier games for a sci-fi story; how it connects is covered on the story page as far as the studio has revealed.
