Two tools, two views of every puzzle
The two tools are chosen at the start rather than assigned by player number: TheGamesLayer’s hands-on describes picking between the Goo Gun and the Grabber, and the trophy list names the pair the Hook Gun and the Goop Gun (the Grabber is the hook tool). GameWatcher’s gamescom session had players swap roles mid-section.
So read the two sections below as perspectives, not fixed lanes: jump to the Hook Gun explorer (Grabber) or Goop Gun explorer section from the table of contents for your side of each puzzle.
Hook Gun explorer (Grabber)
- Verified tool facts only: the hook grapples to energized surfaces (Danger! High Voltage) and can hook your partner (Now I’m Hooked).
- In this segment the trophies point at machines rather than terrain: a Magnetic Stabilizer to reactivate (MAGNETS!) and a targeting array to realign (Any Colour You Like). Which side of each machine the hook explorer works gets written up in the live check.

Goop Gun explorer
- Verified tool facts only: the Goop Gun makes goop blocks to weigh, boost, bridge or gunk with, and can lock your partner in place (You’re Chatty for a Statue).
- Spiraling grants access to Gravitonics and Relativity asks you to explore impossible staircases. The April demo already had gravity walls and ceilings, so gravity play returns here in some form — the exact rooms and steps are part of the live check.

What both explorers need to know
- Ensnared Potential (Gold) is the segment’s payoff: turning the particle accelerator on, the last story trophy before the route moves on to R&D Headquarters.
- GameWatcher’s three questions are the fastest way through unfamiliar machinery: how does it look, what does it do, and what is the sequence?
